Beekeeper Club

The first Thursday of every month the Dunwoody Nature Center Beekeeper Club meets at 6:30pm in the Northwoods Pavilion! We invite the public to join us at these meetings! If you love it, become a Beekeeper Club member!

Our speaker is Master Craftsman Beekeeper Julia Mahood. She will be speaking and demonstrating “How to Make Creamed Honey”. Creamed honey is becoming more popular every year, and Julia has many ribbons in this class in Honey Shows. Not only does she walk you through it, current members will leave with a small starter so that they can make their own with their honey.

Julia is a Georgia Master Craftsman beekeeper who has been keeping bees since 2004. She created the citizen science website MapMyDca.com to gather data on drone congregation areas. Julia was awarded the Georgia Beekeeper of the year in 2018. A graphic artist, she designed the Georgia “Save the honey bee” license plate. She is passionate about education and teaches beekeeping in Georgia prisons and is active in her local and state bee organizations. Let’s close out the year with a good turnout for Julia!
