Children’s birthday parties include reservation of the screened-in back porch of the Dunwoody Nature Center main building. (Note: Children’s birthday parties are not offered in the Pavilion). Children’s birthday parties are offered for children aged 3 to 12 years old only. If you would like to host a birthday party for a child younger than three or older than 12, you will need to book it as a rental.

All of our birthday party themes are highly adaptable to meet the needs of your group. We are happy to accommodate special requests within reason.

Our calendar fills up quickly, so please request birthday parties at least two weeks in advance!

What is the cost of having a birthday party at the Nature Center?

Birthday Party Packages range from $300 – $350 depending on the theme selected. Become a Dunwoody Nature Center Member, to receive discounts.

How are the birthday parties structured?

The screened-in porch of our main building is reserved for you, plus access to the main room and staff kitchen. Birthday parties are 2 hours long with 30 minutes before the party begins to setup and 30 minutes from the end of your party to cleanup. For example, if your party is from 1:00-3:00, you can set up starting at 12:30. The themed program is approximately 1-hour and led by our Program Leader. The other hour is yours to play games, eat, open presents, or whatever you would like. You can discuss the structure of your party with the Program Leader upon arrival but we recommend allowing the guests to arrive during the first 15 minutes, then begin the one-hour program, followed by 45 minutes of games, presents, cake, etc.

How can I contact the educator?

The Program Manager will be able to answer any questions prior to your party. You can finalize any necessary details with your educator during setup time.

What foods should I bring?

You will have access to our staff kitchen, including a microwave, refrigerator, and freezer for any food you bring. You can bring whatever food you like, or make your own plans to order a pizza to be delivered. Don’t forget the birthday cake! We ask that you do not leave any food in the refrigerator, freezer, or on the counters after your party.

What decorations can I bring?

We will provide tables and chairs for you to set up. You can bring tablecloths and table decorations if you like. You will need to bring any paper products if you need them or purchase an eco friendly compostable set at checkout. Balloons are not permitted for any event, but you can decorate the indoors with whatever decorations you like otherwise. Keep in mind that you are only allowed 30 minutes for set up and clean up, so please plan accordingly. In our experience, simple decor is best.

What if it rains?

Our parties are rain or shine. In the event that it is raining, we still make every effort to complete as much of the program outside as possible. Many of our trails are well-canopied by trees so we can escape light rain. If the rain is too heavy, we will move the party inside and adapt the activities.

What if I need to reschedule my birthday party?

We will work with you to find another time, but because our space is limited and our parties are popular, there is no guarantee that another space will be available. Rescheduling less than two weeks before your party date will result in a $20 rescheduling fee.

What if I need to cancel my scheduled birthday party?

Refunds for canceled birthday parties are allowed if made at least two weeks in advance of the scheduled program minus a $40 cancellation fee. If cancellation is less than two weeks prior to the party, 25% of total party fees will be refunded. Memberships are not included.

How far in advance do I need to book?

The sooner the better. Please submit a request at least two weeks before your preferred date. Our calendar fills up very quickly!
