Spring Gardening Workshop
Kick off the growing season with a hands-on gardening workshop at the Dunwoody Nature Center! Whether you are a seasoned gardener or just starting out, this class will provide you with the essential knowledge and resources to make your spring garden thrive. Led by our resident Garden Educator, Cedric, this interactive session will cover everything you need to know for a successful May garden. We will discuss which vegetables are perfect for planting right now and how to source budget-friendly bulk seeds from local feed supply stores.
Participants will get their hands dirty by planting seeds to take home! We will provide small 4-inch nursery pots, soil, and a selection of seeds. You can choose to plant easy-growing seasonal vegetables to start your home harvest, or opt for beautiful native species—including milkweed, coreopsis, and a mix of other perennials—to support local pollinators and wildlife.
In addition to the hands-on activity, we will cover:
- Spring Vegetable Planting: What to sow in May for a bountiful summer.
- Native Plants: The importance of milkweed and coreopsis for the local ecosystem.
- Spring Garden Task Calendar: A guide to pruning techniques, fertilization schedules, and lawn top-dressing tips to keep your yard looking its best.
- Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, plant, and take home something special for your garden!
