Scout Merit Badge: Environmental Science

Earn your Environmental Science Merit Badge in a fun, hands-on day at Dunwoody Nature Center.

Time: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Join us for a full-day workshop designed to help BSA Scouts earn their Environmental Science Merit Badge while exploring real-world environmental challenges and solutions. Taught by certified Merit Badge counselors, this engaging session includes field investigations, experiments, and discussions covering topics like air pollution, ecosystems, endangered species, and more.

Scouts will:

  • Conduct field studies comparing different ecosystems

  • Learn about oil spill cleanup techniques

  • Study the importance of bees to pollination

  • Explore environmental careers

  • Fulfill badge requirements with expert guidance

Important: Scouts must complete and submit specific prerequisites in advance to complete the badge in one day. Required assignments include #1, #2, #3B (choose one), #3D (3), #3E (choose one), and #6. Email completed work to programs@dunwoodynature.org before the event. This workshop is ideal for motivated Scouts ages 7–15 who are ready to dive deep into environmental science and take the next step toward earning one of Scouting’s most respected badges.

Note: A minimum number of participants is required. If not met, registrants will be notified and fully refunded within 7–10 days.
