Butterfly Experience 2022

~ Know Before You Go ~


Whether you walk, bike or drive to the park, please proceed to the check-in booth in the lower level parking lot near the boardwalk path entryway to Check-In and get your wristband

Your timed ticket represents your time in the Butterfly Tent. Please arrive before your scheduled time as late entry to the tents will not be permitted! Those with ticket times 3pm or later are recommended to come early to enjoy the festival before their time with the butterflies.

Bring your smartphone to access our touch-free resources via QR code. All you need is your smart phone camera!

All tickets must be purchased online via our ticketing platform. No tickets will be for sale at the door. Pending availability, you may purchase day-of tickets on your mobile device at the check-in booth.

This event is CASHLESS! No cash will be accepted to purchase tickets, merchandise, or concessions. Please prepare accordingly!

We share our entrance with the Austin Elementary School main entrance, which has a traffic light. Continue down the driveway, passing the school entrance on your right.

MARTA Bus Routes

Route 150 will take you to DNC, and route 129 comes reasonably close — please see the MARTA Website for schedules and maps.

Parking Notes:

Handicap accessible parking will be nearest to the Experience entrance, in the Dunwoody Nature Center parking lot. 

Rideshare and Guest Drop off/Pick Up Zone will be near the lower level parking area. We encourage guests to carpool and rideshare as parking is limited!

Parking will be available in the adjacent Austin Elementary parking lot all weekend long!

Overflow parking will be available at the old Austin Elementary parking lot, just north on Roberts Drive, all weekend. This is a short walk down Roberts Drive from the Dunwoody Nature Center. 

Ticket Price:                      $12/person (3 years and younger are free)

Dates/Times:                   Saturday, September 10, 2022 and Sunday, September 11, 2022

Time slots last 20 minutes. If you purchase tickets for 3pm or later, we suggest arriving before your time slot to enjoy the rest of the festival!

Food & Drink

Food and drink will be available for purchase all weekend long! Grilled concessions such as hot dogs and corn on the cob will be prepared by volunteers from the Knights of Columbus. 


Beer from Moondog Growlers will be available on Saturday, September 10. 

COVID-19 Precautions:

Any guest that exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, fever of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, headache, sore throat or new loss of taste or smell), has any reason to believe they have COVID-19, or has any reason to believe they have been exposed to COVID-19, will not be permitted into the Butterfly Experience. Masks are NOT required inside the Butterfly Tents. If you feel bad, stay home!
