Summer Plant Walk and Workshop

June 12 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$55 – $65

Join Naturalist and Herbalist Educator, Susan Edwards, for a Summer Plant Walk and Workshop focusing on the healing properties of some of our most common plants found in the southeast region.  Participants will enjoy a walk on some of the nature center’s trails learning some of the plants they encounter as well as some of the healing properties of the plants and how they were traditionally and currently used.

The original medicine was from nature and it still offers that bounty today.  In addition, many of our more invasive plant species come with a long history of use in regards to supporting the body in it’s healing processes so some of those will be discussed as well.  This class will explore both native and non-native plants of this region in this class.  For the workshop component we will discuss ways to prepare these plants in various remedies, from teas to tinctures, and more;  as well as see a demonstration of a remedy being made.  Participants will have the opportunity to taste some herbal preparations and get to know how their healing properties work best within the body and with which body systems they tend to support the most.

This is a class that is part of a series through the seasons learning about plants and their healing properties, participants can sign up for this one class, or all of them.  We will explore different plants each class, weaving our way through Early Summer, Late Summer, and Fall.  So keep an eye out for more of these workshops in the months to come, in August and October.

This workshop will take place outdoors, on our screened porch and out in the woods.

Register today to secure spot, spaces will be limited! Adults ages 18+ only.

$65 for nonmembers//$55 for members with code Wildlife21.
