Pumpkin Dumpin’: Pumpkin Drop-off and Composting

Let your old pumpkins and jack-o’-lanterns decompose the natural way by dropping them off at the Nature Center to be composted!

 Almost 900,000 tons of pumpkins will be wasted each fall,  added to landfills rather than being eaten or composted. Help reduce that number by bringing your old pumpkins to us–and we’ll let nature do the rest! By composting your pumpkin, you are keeping waste out of landfills, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and creating a natural fertilizer for our soils.

The Dunwoody Nature Center will be accepting your old pumpkins on Monday, November 1st from noon to 6PM. For drop off outside of these hours, please contact Nature Center staff. Suggested donation of $1 per pumpkin.

Plain, clean pumpkins of any size will be accepted, as well as pumpkins painted with acrylic paint. Any pumpkin decorations such as candles, yarn, stickers or other decorations should be removed prior to drop-off.
