Earth Day Events

Join us April 22 for several special events to celebrate Earth Day!

First, we have our annual Paint Recycling event.

Thinking about doing some spring cleaning? Now’s the time to gather all of those old cans of paint lying around the house and bring them in for recycling (yes, the old paint is recycled and used again!) during the Nature Center’s Earth Day Paint Recycling Event on Saturday, April 22nd from 10:00 until 4:00. Brought to you by the City of Dunwoody, for a fee of $1 per gallon (cash only), residents can drop off any unwanted paints and promote healthier air and water quality in the process.

We also have a special outdoor yoga class planned from 10:00 – 11:00.

Class Fee: Donation Class – Pay what you like
Location: Dunwoody Nature Center, 5343 Roberts Drive, Dunwoody

A mindful yoga practice, Sweet Flow brings attention to connecting breath and movement. The class is an active hour of yoga that incorporates sun salutations, standing poses, hip-openers, seated poses, twists, and back bends – ending with a few luscious minutes in Savasana (final resting pose). Bring a friend, your yoga mat, some water, and any additional items you may need (such as a blanket, towel, or sunscreen). All levels welcome. Look for us on the path that leads to the baseball fields.

Finally, we are hosting a Backyard Campout that evening.

$20 per campsite for Members
$25 per campsite for Non-Members
Setup begins at 4:00 on Saturday

Join us for a taste of camping in the forest, without going too far from home. At this family focused program, we’ll learn some of the camping basics like how to set up and break down tents and how to build and put out a campfire. Our educators will help you plan for the overnight by explaining everything that you need to bring for your adventure. And what campout would be complete without a fire, some s’mores, games, a night hike, and even a camp song or two?

Need equipment? Tents, sleeping bags, and other gear are available for rent through our partners at REI Perimeter by calling (770) 901-9200.
