Fall Campout at CREEC

Thanks to a partnership with Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, the Nature Center is offering our first offsite Campout!  Join us at the Chattahoochee River Environmental Education Center (CREEC) for a special evening under the stars on Saturday, November 10, 2018. Arrive as early as 2:00 pm on Saturday for an afternoon of exploration and an evening of camping programs led by the Nature Center and CRNRA park rangers. Not generally open to the public, the CREEC property offers easy access to trails, the Chattahoochee River, a bonfire, and acres of land to explore and enjoy.

Where is CREEC?

The Chattahoochee River Environmental Education Center is located off Barnwell Road. The address is 8615 Barnwell Road, Johns Creek, GA. There is a large sign at the entrance to the drive.

What time can we arrive to start setting up our camp?

You may arrive as early as 2:00pm and as late as 8:00 pm. At 8:00pm the gate will be closed. If your schedule will not allow you to arrive before 8:00pm, please contact us ahead of time so that we can accommodate your arrival.

What should I pack?

Where will our campsite be?

The campsites will be spread throughout a large grassy field. Campsites will be chosen on a first come, first served basis. Please be prepared to carry your equipment 100-200 yards from the parking lot to your campsite.

Can we bring a grill or build our own fire?

You may bring a charcoal or gas grill or stove, but please no personal fires. There will be 2 fires set up by the NPS at the campsite that you may use.

Are there restrooms?

Yes, there are restrooms inside the house onsite. They will be open overnight, but may be a little walk from your campsite.

Are there picnic tables or a pavilion to sit and eat?

Yes there are a few picnic tables and a large covered pavilion that you may use.

Can I bring alcoholic beverages?

No, we do not allow alcohol at this family friendly event.

What fun activities can we participate in while we are at the CREEC?

Trail maps will be provided if you would like to venture out for a hike. There is a pond and the Chattahoochee River just a short hike away.  S’mores materials will be provided (1 s’more per person) to roast on the campfires provided. Fishing is a popular activity at the pond or on the river. Cane poles will be provided for use by the NPS.
