All of our programs are designed to meet scouting requirements as outlined in your BSA handbooks.

Older siblings are welcome to participate! Just pay the usual program fee. We encourage younger siblings to have free time at the playground. Please note there is a $30 weekend surcharge for field trips scheduled outside our usual Mon-Fri operating hours.

Tiger Scouts
Programs are 1 hour long
Cost is $4 per scout No charge for adults
Let's Go Outdoors Tiger Cubs earn their Let's Go Outdoors Achievement by making a leaf rubbing, taking a hike and exploring weather through their five senses.
Play With Nature Enjoy nature as you complete four electives:
- Feed the Birds
- Cleanup Treasure Hunt
- Conservation, and
- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
Wolf Scouts
Programs are 1 hour long
Cost is $6 per scout No charge for adults
Birds Scouts meet the world of birds. Read a story about birds, feed birds, observe species, supply nesting material, and share your observations with your pack to complete four arrow points for this elective.
Your Living World Scouts explore the park and learn how human activity affects the environment. Scouts learn ways to minimize pollution, save energy, and conserve water resources.
Bear Scouts
Programs are 1 hour long
Cost is $6 per scout No charge for adults
Sharing Your World With Wildlife Scouts will learn about endangered species, food chains and natural resources to complete this achievement and earn their Wildlife Conservation Academics Belt Loop.
Water & Soil Conservation Clean water and healthy soils are important to our world. Scouts will conduct soil experiments, learn about erosion and clean up water pollution. Fill in four arrow points for this elective.
Webelo Scouts
Programs are 2 hours long
Cost is $8 per scout No charge for adults
Forester Scouts are introduced to forestry with activities, games, art and a hike in Dunwoody Park. Draw the structure of a forest and how a tree grows. Explore the life of a tree through its rings. Identify tree species and learn how wildlife and humans use them. Learn the role of fire in a forest.
Geologist Webelos discover the science of geology by exploring rocks, minerals and fossils. Test the hardness of rocks, learn about some uses of rocks and minerals, and make a fossil. Scouts earn the Geology Academics Belt Loop as they collect different types of rocks and learn the ways in which they are formed.
Naturalist Scouts become naturalists as they observe wildlife and learn to identify poisonous plants and venomous snakes. Explore the food chain, an endangered species found in the Southeast, and learn about the importance of natural resources to complete the Wildlife Conservation Academics Belt Loop.
Outdoorsman Your pack may work to complete this badge while attending an overnight program inside Dunwoody Park. See the Overnight Programs Page for more details.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What are your operating hours?
Dunwoody Nature Center is open Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm and on some weekends for scheduled programs. Admission to the center and Dunwoody Park is FREE.
When can I schedule a program?
We can accommodate scout trips anytime inside our normal operating hours, Mon - Fri. Need a weekend? For a $30 weekend surcharge, DNC will work with you to meet your pack or den's needs. Schedule evening and overnight programs any evening of the week.
How do I schedule a program?
- Weekday Programs: Pay a non-refundable deposit of $50. We must receive your deposit before we will schedule your field trip.
- Evenings & Overnights: Pay a non-refundable deposit of $150 for evening programs and $200 for overnights. We must receive your deposit before we will schedule your program.
- For All Programs: Pay your balance, calculated on the number of scouts who attend, on the day of your visit.
Can we picnic & play in the park before or after the program?
Yes, absolutely! Enjoy Wildcat Creek, our playground and our picnic tables during your visit.
Can our troop become members of Dunwoody Nature Center?
YES! Sign your troop up as a Member of DNC for $50/year. You will help us with our Mission and can schedule meetings in our clubhouse (first come, first served). Call today for details!
